چکیده

Andrade SF, Skiba GH, Krueger E, Rodacki, AF. Effects of Electrostimulation with Blood Flow Restriction on Muscle Thickness and Strength of the Soleus. JEPonline 2016;19(3):59-69. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of low-intensity neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) combined with blood flow restriction (BFR) to increase soleus muscle size and strength. Seven untrained males (22.5 ± 1.9 yrs) had one leg unilaterally trained with percutaneous NMES with BFR at 20% of their maximal capacity, 3 times·wk for 6 wks, while the contralateral leg served as control (not trained). Soleus muscle thickness and isometric strength were measured before and after the training period. No changes were observed in both legs for soleus thickness and strength measurements. This study showed that low-intensity NMES training combined with BFR does not induce increases in strength and size in the soleus.

Comparison of the Effects of Resistance Training with Blood Flow Restriction and Traditional Resistance Training on Myostatin, Muscle Mass and some Physiological Factors in Middle-Aged Women: A Clinical Trial

Background and Objectives: The response of myostatin to resistance training with blood flow restriction is not perfectly clear. Therefore, the purpose of this study comparing the effects of eight weeks resistance training with blood flow restriction and traditional resistance training on myostatin, muscle mass and some related-muscle physiological factors in middle-aged women. Materials ...

Long-term Low-Intensity Endurance Exercise along with Blood-Flow Restriction Improves Muscle Mass and Neuromuscular Junction Compartments in Old Rats

Background: During the aging process, muscle atrophy and neuromuscular junction remodeling are inevitable. The present study aimed to clarify whether low-intensity aerobic exercise along with limb blood-flow restriction (BFR) could improve aging-induced muscle atrophy and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) at the neuromuscular junction. Methods: Forty-eight male Wistar rats, aged 23–24 m...

Role of resistance training with the approach of blood flow restriction in skeletal muscle cell growth

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the response of ERK1/2 protein and muscular morphological adaptations to a period of resistance training with local blood flow restriction. Materials and methods: Twenty healthy male Wistar rats without clinically evident disease (5 weeks old, 120±7 g weight) were divided into four equal groups: control, control with limited blood flow...

P74: Low-Intensity Aerobic Training for Along with Blood Flow Restriction on Amount of Protein BDNF in Soleus and EDL Muscles as well as the Sciatic Nerve in Aged Male Rats

Neurotrophins are a group of nerve growth factors with their protein structure. These proteins play an important role in the growth and metabolism of many cells and maintain nerve, muscle, synaptic potentials, and also helps reduce depression and apoptosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 10 weeks low-intensity aerobic training and limited blood flow to the amount of protein...

تأثیر فعالیت ایزومتریک با شدت‌های مختلف با و بدون کاهش جریان خون بر درگیری تارهای تند انقباض

Abstract: Background and Aim:  Recruitment of fast twitch muscles cause an increase in muscle mass and strength but these muscles are recruited in high intensities. Old people or persons in rehabilitation process couldn’t do intense training. On the other hand, it has been told that training with blood flow restriction could recruit fast twitch muscles in low intensity. Therefore, we decided to...
